The cause of the recent breakdown of the MRT trains was due to a lack of maintenance and falsifying of records. It caused quite a stir among the public as many commuters were affected by the breakdown. Motorists were not spared too as massive traffic jams occurred as shuttle buses were deployed to pick up stranded commuters.
It took a heavy downpour to reveal that the pumps were not functioning due to a lack of maintenance and were therefore unable to prevent the rainwater from flooding the MRT tunnel.
We should learn from this valuable lesson as we go about our day-to-day lives in our various capacities. It may be easy and tempting to engage in shenanigans thinking that you will never be found out. However, just as the heavy downpour revealed the deceits of the maintenance team, our dishonest acts would also be found out in due time. As followers of Christ caught in these acts, we would present the enemies of Christ occasions to blaspheme. We are the Lord’s ambassadors to the world and should never be the one to indulge in activities that will damage His honour.
On the spiritual side, we would do well to take note too and measure ourselves against the Holy Word. We may look pious; say the right phrases; be regular in church activities etc but our hearts are far from God. Remember Jesus’s admonition of the scribes and Pharisees:
“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. “ Matt 15:8
Now is a good time put into practice the lyric that we are familiar with
Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray;
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.
Now is a good time for a regula Spiritual check-up with the Great Physician.
