Shaddai turns 18 in 2018. We have seen and can testify of the goodness of our Lord as His Hand guided us through the many ups and downs in our short history. Many of us have been with the church since the early days and we have grown older and wiser (??) together. And for this year, I would like to challenge every member and visitor to consider “Being the Best for Christ” now.
Once we commit ourselves to putting God at the centre of everything we do, a lot of important things naturally followed. Firstly, it will require us not just doing things differently, but thinking about things differently. There is a need in a shift of mindset. A key part of that mindset shift will require all of us to fully and deeply appreciate that everything we do every day for Christ has a significant impact to our lives, our families, our church, our nation, God’s kingdom.
Secondly, we have defined the key components of the mandate of the church which serve as guideposts.
Evangelism. The church need to proclaim the Good News
Training. The church needs to know about her God
Missions. The unreached millions need to know about a Saviour
This personal journey/quest would be long and hard as there would be roadblocks and occasional stumbling and fumbling. Despair, Discouragement, Defeat, and the many familiar foes will show up regularly in our lives tempting us to give up.
The ultimate test of discipleship and commitment is to take what we have learned and experienced and allow God to use them to drive lasting change in our spiritual lives. If we keep our focus on Christ and a firm commitment to seek His Presence, we can have the confidence, courage and conviction to stay firmly on a path to “Being the Best for Christ”. We can then boldly echo the sayings of Apostle Paul that “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me”.
Doing this now isn’t just possible—it’s necessary and it’s critical to ourselves, our family, and for Shaddai. Thanks again for your courage, conviction and commitment to “Being the Best for Christ”.
